We (don’t) need (no) art education

Conversation

During the first edition of A-Z nights, a creatives meetup in a former chapel in Hasselt, I was inspired by the presentation of Annelys De Vet, who told about her own art education in comparison with the way she nowadays heads the master in design ‘Think tank for visual strategies’ at the Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam. Her presentation was about 5 shifts or changes that define the way we need to adapt our principles to the developments around us and this also applies on the current educational model:

From suspision to trust

From hierarchy to network

From structure to sensorily

From white supremacy to diversify

From monologue to dialogue

Video: follow the first night through the eyes of Wide Vercnocke, who made live illustrations during the talks.
